Widow

What are you children's names and ages?

My children are Orlando (Reginald) Jackson, Merrier (Maria) Jackson, James (Junior) Jackson, Fontella Jackson (deceased) and Arlene (Mechele) Jackson. They are all adults (old) and I am sure they do not want me to disclose their ages. Plus if I told their ages, I could no longer tell people I am forty-five.

What feature do you look forward to using the most in this site?

I am looking forward to viewing pictures and trying new recipes.

Share a bit of your personal history with the family. What would you like us to know about you?

My name is Idella Jackson and I am the seventh child in a sibship of fourteen born to Ledell and Daisy Jackson. I finished High School in Lisman, Alabama. After graduating high school I moved to Mobile, Alabama where I met and married my now deceased husband, James W. Jackson Sr. Together we had five beautiful children, four of which are living. I moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1965 (the year of the Watts Riots). I obtained an Associates Degree from Compton Junior College with a a degree in Child Development. I pursued my Bachelors degree from Cailfornia State University Dominguez Hills and Laverne Univeristy. I taught preschool at Charles Drew Headstart, where I retired in 2002 after 32 years of service.

Currently, I am enjoying the benfits of retirement by traveling. My favorite vacation spots are Jamaica, Vegas, Mexico and Palm Springs. My favorite sports are fishing and basketball. I fish at least twice a month and I watch basketball as much as possible. My favorite team is the San Antonio Spurs!!!!

I volunteer with "at risk" youth in my community and I serve in my church as the "Young at Heart" ministry's president.
